Special Connection - Rank #4: Her special connection is to something only she can see. She sees it and it can see her. It has been with her all her life and never leaves, it's always watching, always taunting and talking to her. She can talk to it and it can talk to her but it doesn't always listen to her. It seems to predict death, or perhaps it kills unseen by all except her. As Soulscream got older her connection to it has grown stronger. It has begun to listen to her, to understand her, and in it's own twisted way try to help her. Soulscream doesn't know what it is and it has no sense of being beyond that it exists and why should it matter what it is? The monster refers to itself as "us" and "we" potentially due to it's multiple heads. Soulscream refers to it as It, her name for the monster. The monster itself has no preference for whatever it's called. It can interact with the physical world at will, able to inflict real harm, move things, and do anything a tangible being can do. Most of the time It remains in an almost spiritual form, objects and other beings able to walk right through It. It can morphs it's body, growing extra limbs, bone extremities, heads, tails, wings, ect. As Soulscream grows stronger It has begun to grow stronger as well but also closer to 'Screaming Soul'. It has been learning and evolving as It grows and seems to be growing more intelligent and tolerant, perhaps even affectionate, towards Soulscream. If soulscream wanted she could make the monster show itself to others. It has begun to teach her things and a strange language it seems to be able to speak.
Appearance:
Soulscream is a large she-cat, not in the sense that she is overweight. She is tall, broad shouldered, and lean. Her pelt is a long silky white with feathered gray running throughout it. Soulscream is not a pretty cat even though her fur is gorgeous. Her eyes are an unnerving grey color, so light they almost seem as white as her pelt. A few scars mar her chest and back from battles fought in the past. She has an underbite, her bottom fangs resting outside her mouth against her muzzle. After the founding of Echoclan a golden crescent moon and star grace her forehead, marking her as a true leader with nine lives.
Personality:
Selfless ~ dedicated ~ hardworking ~ intelligent ~ wise ~ unambitious ~ solemn ~ perfectionist ~ antisocial
Soulmoon was used to working tirelessly in the shadows, unaccepted and unacknowledged. That had been her life until everything changed. Soulmoon is a very silent individual that used to like to keep herself apart from others. She has always been one to think things through thoroughly before making decisions. Her decisions just have more weight now, which makes her think even harder about them. Sometimes making decisions takes a second while other times there are long moments in which she is silent or softly muttering to herself. Soulmoon sees the world differently than others and definitely sees something others can’t. Soulmoon has always been dedicated and hard working. She pushes past her limits constantly, focused on growing and overcoming challenges. Soulmoon is a bit hard on herself. She needs to do better, needs to do more. She will protect her clan with her life and every shred of her soul. Soulmoon used to lack all social skills, speaking harshly and bluntly. She has grown since her days as an outcast. While Soulmoon is still extremely anxious in social situations she pushes herself to work past it. She now makes speeches, speeches!! Soulmoon used to only be able to mutter a few words before fleeing in embarrassment and fear. Soulmoon is still silent, preferring her own thoughts than approaching others. When soulmoon speaks her words are often heavy and have weight to them. She thoroughly thinks through everything she is going to say, her words are often filled with wisdom or good advice. While Soulmoon still lacks some social skills and grace she is very empathetic. She understands others emotions and often puts herself in other’s positions. She tries her best to understand everyone. Soulmoon is very supportive and would do anything for her clan. Even now Soulmoon clings to what her mentor told her, the promise she made him. She will defend her clan with all of her vast wisdom and intelligence, with her claws and fangs, with her life and soul. Soulmoon knows life is cruel and harsh, she knows hard decisions need to be made. She does the best she can to shoulder as much of the burden as she can but she is only one cat. There is only so much she can do, but she won’t accept that. Soulmoon has always been intelligent, wise beyond her years. She lived most of her life fighting off loneliness, an outcast hated and unwanted. Now things have changed. She doesn’t have time to feel lonely. Soulmoon is determined and filled with a fierce passion. She has found herself in a position to enact change and she will not let others suffer how she has suffered. Soulmoon will be brutal and merciless when it comes to protecting her clan. She has suffered enough and will ensure no one has to suffer like she has. She sees It. It has haunted her her whole life, stalking close behind her. Soulmoon is diligent and calculating, using her wit just as much as her claws to take down her enemies. She enjoys challenges and overcoming them. Soulmoon has a slight competitive streak that only a few know about. Soulmoon is not a smug or prideful individual. She is selfless and loving but she knows the harsh truths of the world. She sees it and she will make sure that it, and her enemies, fear her more than she has ever feared them.
Soulmoon was born into nightclan on the shortest day of the year. Her mother and father were hard working Nightclan warriors who loved their clan and their kits. Her mother’s birth was hard, she almost didn’t survive it and only two of her kits survived. Soulkit and Cloudkit had become the light in their parents' lives. Yet as soon as Soulkit could see and speak her parents knew there was something different about her, something off. She was a sedentary kit, not moving around a lot or playing. She didn’t talk much, she rarely smiled. When soulkit did speak it she was always going on about seeing something. Her parents brushed it off but were a little concerned. The medicine cat said that there was nothing physically wrong with Soulkit, she was healthy as could be. Yet she refused to play, always sitting and watching the dark with wide unblinking eyes. When she wasn’t breaking down in hysterics about seeing something she was spouting words of wisdom, things a kit shouldn’t have been saying or even thinking. Soulkit grew up loved by her parents and brother. They accepted her for what she was but always worried about her. Her parents grew more worried when cloudkit died. They were distressed, at their wits end. Not only had Cloudkit died but Soulkit said that the thing she saw wanted Cloudkit. They couldn’t shake the sinking feeling of dread and panic that was growing as their daughter grew.
She hadn’t changed much by the time she was an apprentice. She spoke a little more but she was still mainly silent, just watching everyone around her with unsettling eyes. She watched and she learned and she kept watch. Her mentor was old, Soulpaw would be his last apprentice before he would retire to the elders den. Dreamspeaker was his name, and he knew that this little solemn apprentice needed guidance. Her hysterical breakdowns hadn’t ceased, if anything they had increased as she became an apprentice. It was clear there was something terrifying her. While the rest of the clan ignored her and didn’t believe her it was Dreamspeaker that supported her, believed in her. Who was he to say she didn’t see something? Soulpaw looked up to Dreamspeaker. He was her life raft in a turbulent ocean of darkness. He told her that she needed to protect them from it because they couldn’t see it. He taught her everything he knew, encouraged her to always try her best, to go above and beyond. He knew there was something different about Soulpaw. Where another would have tried to destroy her uniqueness and make her conform Dreamspeaker made Soulpaw love herself for what she was. Her parents died midway into her apprenticeship. Dreamspeaker was worried, the rest of the clan was starting to take stock in her words. They had shunned her but it was growing hard to ignore her words and the death that seemed to follow them. He worried others would try to chase her out, scapegoating her for everything bad that was happening. Her parents and brother weren’t the only names she listed. When she said others could see it death seemed to quickly claim them. Dreamspeaker was worried but he knew that no one was more scared and upset then Soulpaw. He did everything he could to make her feel loved, accepted, to help her grow, to give her strategies to overcome her lack of social skills. She went to him one night with tears in her eyes, sobbing frantically and he knew. He comforted her, gave her encouraging words, told her none of this was her fault, that she should continue to grow strong to protect everyone. He died a few days later. Soulpaw was devastated, everyone she loved was dying, everyone who she listed died. Others shunned her even more, scared of the strange apprentice. Soulpaw persevered. She would keep her promise to Dreamspeaker, she would be the best warrior her clan had ever seen, she would protect them all. So she became a warrior and continued working tirelessly.
Soulscream struggled constantly, ripped apart with sadness and loneliness. She participated in the countless battles to defend her clan, hunted until she collapsed from exhaustion, gathered herbs until her paws bled but it was never enough. It would never be enough. The only friend that she ever had was experiencing the same exact thing as her. He was shunned, hated, feared. Nothing they did would ever be enough. Yet Soulscream worked tirelessly, moving forward and doing her very best. Her life drastically changed when Bloodwing became Bloodmoon. Suddenly Soulscream was a deputy. In charge of a clan that hated her and shunned her all her life. Soulscream did what she always did. She worked hard, without complaint. She tried her very best and worked herself until she collapsed with exhaustion. But something had changed. They started to appreciate her, care for her, look to her for guidance, love her. It was too much. She had lived in the shadows with loneliness as one of her only friends. Yet now they accepted her. Soulscream barely had any time to adjust before tragedy struck and she became Soulmoon.
Once again her life was flipped on her head. A great sickness killed Bloodmoon and many Nightclan cats. Soulmoon found herself in charge of a clan that had hated her and then grown to love her. She couldn't understand how that had happened. Soulmoon did as she always did and threw herself into working hard. The worst part of the whole thing was that her best friend, Redomen, refused to be her friend anymore. He was worried about something bad happening to her, that he would take away the leader his clan so desperately needed. Soulmoon was tired of it all and suddenly found herself in a position to enact changed. She threw her everything into making Nightclan and accepting place, so others would not have to go through what Redomen and herself went through. Then it was brought to her attention the position Brookclan was in. Soulmoon couldn't sit by an watch as Brookclan fell to chaos and ceased to exist. Soulmoon had the power to change things, had the power to help others and so she did. She did as she always did and threw herself into her work. Soulmoon worked to heal the divide between Brookclan and Nightclan and suddenly found herself with nine lives and the leader of Echoclan. The world flipped upside-down again but this time she was better equipped. She was leader of Echoclan and she would ensure her clan grew to be strong. She would ensure no one suffered how she suffered and everyone felt safe and accepted. Soulmoon did as she always did and threw herself into her work.
