appearance: baywhisker is a sturdy, refined tom with sleek fur. while not exceptionally attractive, the swipes of auburn on his white coat are rather striking. he is above average in stature and speaks with a clipped voice, but his downturned blue-green eyes lend him an unassuming and gentle air. 

personality: some believe he puts on a humble and detached air to attract attention; this rumor couldn't be farther from the truth. modest, noble, and steadfast, baywhisker exhibits the traits of the ideal warrior. his selfless disposition and genuine courtesy do not outshine his boldness and sarcasm; nor are they enough to mask his rigidity, emotional distance, and biting criticism. despite these flaws, the tom is a credit to his clan, owing his skill to an ever-lurking fear of failure and an unorthodox teacher. while perceptive, baywhisker’s greatest flaw is that once he believes in someone, he doesn’t think they can let him down.

power: danger intuition

baywhisker possesses a precognitive awareness of his surroundings. a prickling sensation on the back of his skull acts as a sort of “sixth-sense”—this allows him to predict danger before it happens. the severity and proximity of the danger increase the intensity of the reaction, but if he is fatigued, nothing occurs.

this awareness helps baywhisker navigate when he is unable to see, hear, or if he is disoriented. baywhisker can also deflect and avoid attacks without having to concentrate every time he does so, therefore bolstering his ability to defend himself.

history: baykit was cheerful and rowdy, the more exuberant child in a pair of brothers. he and ashkit were raised by sloepetal and larksong, both respected warriors and warm, doting parents. a trip outside of camp led to the untimely loss of his family; swept away in a thunderstorm, baykit was found outside of nightclan’s tunnels and brought back to the healers. raised by the clan for the remainder of his kithood, he became charming and irreverent until the day of his apprenticeship.

baypaw was assigned to cranenose, a maverick tom with a keen interest in the stars above. intuitive and empathetic, the venerable warrior became a father figure to his apprentice. under his guidance, the younger tom grew past the arrogance that came with his increase in skill. but not even cranenose’s belief in starclan could save him from death. the older tom perished while on patrol, the circumstances of his passing unknown to many. neither the warriors that joined him nor the various nightclan medicine cats could explain what had occurred.

the cause was eventually ruled as exhaustion- a decision that did not satisfy everyone. the mystery surrounding his mentor's demise made the newly-named baywhisker reactive and uncertain. fearing he had become a warrior all too soon, the tom began to distance himself from others, convinced they could not remedy his afflictions. the only friendship that remained unchanged was that with baypaw, an apprentice of brookclan. baywhisker took to his mentor's old teachings of meditation and training, and in time, baywhisker grew comfortably into the skin of a nightclan warrior. what he didn't expect was for his personal life to be such a handful.
