Special Connection - Rank III: Mantispaw can talk to and control praying mantises, she can control one mantis in particular and is able to see through its eyes, but once they are out of her radius Mantispaw can no longer see what it sees or control it. Mantispaw will suffer from migraines due to prolonged use.
Appearance: Mantispaw is a sleek dark grey she-cat with vibrant green eyes, tufts of her fur stick out here and there causing her to look as though she’s disheveled. Her tail, ears, and front toes are black. Mantispaw has a black mustache marking and a black dorsal stripe. Her tail is long and thin.
Personality: Mantispaw is a charismatic, easily impressed young cat with a lot to say and never enough time to say it all. Mantispaw does everything as if she’s running out of time to do it and tends to miss out on the little things in favor of doing everything she can in a single moment, nevertheless Mantispaw is observant of her surroundings and even details of a conversation that wasn’t particularly anything special. Mantispaw can be goofy and carefree at times, coming off as though she doesn’t take much seriously. Mantispaw can be so caught up in one minute instance that she’ll miss social and conversational cues and forget what she was supposed to say and how she was supposed to act. Mantispaw can usually talk her way out of it and most other situations, but she still has a lot to learn when it comes to having a silvertongue.
History: Mantiskit was born to a very mysterious and strange she-cat named Weepingfoot, a panicky and suspicious cat that could never seem to stop lying. Weepingfoot always seemed as though she was scared of something, she was jumpy and uncertain of every little thing which led to the neglect of her only kit. Mantiskit however didn’t remember much about her mother being in her life and instead was very close to her grandfather Wrathsong. One day, Weepingfoot left in the middle of the day after a fight with her father and never returned.
Mantispaw was raised by her grandfather from that point on, finding his anger at everything amusing and wanting to be just like him though Wrathsong wanted her to be so much more. Though Wrathsong didn’t understand it he nurtured Mantispaw’s strange interest in bugs, especially her love for her namesake. Mantispaw seemed to have something special between her and the strange insect and while Wrathsong didn’t see the appeal he understood it was important to his grandkit. Wrathsong wasn’t sure what to make of it when he found that Mantispaw could not only talk to the smaller creature, but supposedly see what it saw.
