Personality:
Firejaw is a charismatic and handsome tom who knows he looks good and isn't afraid to flaunt it. He is a product of his upbringing, vain and proud of his looks and skills. Yet Firejaw is kind and compassionate, he would never judge another based on looks. Early in his life Firejaw was blinded by love and passion. He was a mindless follower who ignored the flaws of the one he loved. He was dedicated and supportive and very vocal about it. Firejaw was very vocal about his hate for the merge, he said things that cannot be taken back, acted in a hateful way. It had been fueled by blind devotion and love, something he regrets now. Firejaw is a dedicated and loyal tom even if other's question his loyalty. He is very passionate, his emotions always intense and strong. He is strong both physically and mentally, not letting the harsh whispers and distrust get to him. He is truly remorseful for how he was, constantly striving to prove himself, to prove that he has changed. He recognizes his mistakes, past and present, and strives towards becoming better. Some in his position might hide on the outskirts, not drawing attention to themselves, but Firejaw is not like that. He is not afraid to put his flaws and mistakes into the public eye. He is ashamed of what he has done but not who he is. Firejaw is someone who would stand up for others, someone who has a cool head in emergencies. He is a flirt that loves to joke around but he is also very serious. He takes his duties and responsibilities seriously and will not shy away from conflict or problems. He approaches problems with a clear head, thinking logically on how to solve them. On the outside Firejaw looks like a dedicated tom who is constantly working to prove himself to the clan. No one really notices how he bottles his darker emotions, shoving them deep down in side of him. It's a habit really, one from his Brookclan upbringing. Weakness and imperfections in any sense were shunned. While he would never apply this to others he applies it to himself for some reason. He is a perfectionist, he needs to be strong, to prove himself, he doesn't have room for the guilt and the sadness, for the weakness. Yet Firejaw is very self reflective, he realizes doing this will only lead to more pain and problems but he can't help it. Firejaw is a confident flirt who is not ashamed of who he is. He regrets his past and is constantly trying to make up for it, proving to himself, and the clan, that he is loyal and worth their love and care.

History:
Firejaw was born into brookclan in a time of relative peace. Brookclan and Nightclan had always been hated enemies, both constantly fighting the other. Firejaw was born to two upstanding Brookclan warriors Sunsetsky and Pondpelt. Him and his brother Ducksplash were loved and cherished. Their parents were supportive and kind, pushing their sons to become the best they could be but not taking it too far. As kits Firekit and Duckkit were close. They played together and would often talk about their future dreams and goals. Yet the two brothers drifted apart slightly when they became apprentices. As kits they would play with thistlekit and bearkit, two other toms who were around their age. Yet when they became apprentices Firepaw seemed to become enamored by bearpaw. This adoration caused the two siblings to drift apart slightly. Firepaw looked up to the older tom, thinking him brave and strong. Firepaw was glued to Bearpaw's hip, he could always be found training with him and talking to him. At first Firepaw didn't understand his feelings towards Bearpaw, they were best friends so of course he loved him! But slowly over their apprenticeship Firepaw realized that he loved Bearpaw more than a friend. At first he was confused but with his parents support he accepted his love for Bearpaw and realized he was allowed to love who ever he wanted. Yet Firepaw never admitted his crush. Thistlepaw would tease him about it but he ignored it. Bearpaw became Bearjaw, a strong and capable warrior that was loyal and brave. Firepaw idolized him. He put Bearjaw on a pedestal and was blind to his faults. Firepaw asked to be named Firejaw, just like his best friend.
Heartbreak struck, his father Pondpelt suddenly dying. Ducksplash and Firejaw grew closer once again, the loss of their father bringing the siblings back together. The death of his father also pushed Firejaw further towards Bearjaw and helped him work up the courage to tell him how he felt.
Eventually Firejaw had worked up the courage to tell Bearjaw that he loved him more than a friend. He had worked up the courage and finally went to approach Bearjaw. Yet he wasn't in camp. Firejaw tracked Bearjaw down and found him with Cupid, another cat. It was clear that Bearjaw loved Cupid. Firejaw didn't want to ruin their close friendship and decided to keep his love to himself. It broke his heart but he closed off those emotions. He was still close friends with Bearjaw, nothing could take that away. They were a pair, Firejaw supporting Bearjaw and encouraging him.
Disaster struck, the illness killing first Amberheart, the deputy, then Dawnstar and many warriors and clanmates. Brookclan was left decimated after the illness, few able bodied warriors surviving. Brookclan was left without leadership, without a strong individual to guide them. To Firejaw it was clear what should have happened. What should have happened is that Bearjaw should have become Bearstar. Yet Nightclan swooped in, offering their aide and help, pretending to be heroes. As talks of the merge began Firejaw supported Bearjaw in his hate for the merge. It wasn't right, they were rolling over to their enemy and showing weakness. Brookclan was far superior, they were better than the Nightclan trash. Firejaw followed Bearjaw blindly, like he had his whole life. Then one day Bearjaw vanished and Soulmoon came back bloody and torn up, carrying the dead body of an apprentice. At first Firejaw couldn't believe it. Soulmoon had a leader mark, blessed by Moonclan and Starclan she said. She said that Bearjaw attacked her and killed her, that he would have taken all nine of her new lives had it not been for Larkpaw. Larkpaw who bravely faced off against Bearjaw, the traitor, and was killed for it. Suddenly Firejaw's world turned upside down. It couldn't be true, Soulmoon was lying, Bearjaw would never kill Larkpaw. Firejaw had gotten to know the energetic apprentice, even liked her a bit. Bearjaw would never hurt a kid. Yet Bearjaw was gone and with him a lot of the individuals who also were against the merge. Firejaw's whole view of the world had shattered and he was lost. He went after Bearjaw, demanding answers, and what Bearjaw said only confirmed it. It was then that he finally saw Bearjaw for what he was. The pedestal Firejaw had put him on had blinded him, his love had blinded him. Firejaw returned to Echoclan, broken and lost. Not only had Bearjaw become a murderer and a traitor, his brother had vanished. Firejaw knew that Ducksplash hadn't joined Bearjaw but he was gone. Firejaw suddenly found himself alone, in a clan that mistrusted him and disliked him. After all he had been a close friend of Bearjaw, he was always around him, always speaking out against the merge. Why would he stay in Echoclan? Everyone thought Firejaw would go with Bearjaw, would follow him. Yet Firejaw stayed. He stayed and dedicated himself to proving that he wasn't anything like Bearjaw, that he could be trusted, that love had blinded him and he wasn't a killer. Firejaw spiraled into a dark place, lost, alone and broken.
That's when he met Petalfall, a previous nightclan warrior who he grew close with. She was loving and kind, supportive and soft spoken. She got along well with his mother and encouraged him to prove himself to the clan, to ignore the harsh whispers and do his best. It had been a mistake of his youth, he had been blinded by love and passion. Petalfall helped Firejaw over come his self-hate. She was a friend he didn't deserve, one he treasured none the less. Then one day Petalfall confessed her love for him, that she loved him more than a friend. Firejaw didn't feel the same but he admired her courage and well...she was a safe choice in mates, one that would further prove to the clan that he wasn't a monster, that he wasn't a bearjaw spy. Firejaw and Petalfall became mates and he treated her right. He worshipped the ground she walked on because she had helped save him from himself. Yet he couldn't bring himself to love her in the same way she loved him. Firejaw ensured Petalfall was happy and when she wanted kits he gladly agreed. He might not love Petalfall like that but he wanted to be a father and he wanted to give her everything she wanted.
Tragedy struck again. Petalfall died during kitting and suddenly Firejaw found himself alone again. Only one kit survived and it took everything in him to not just hand the kit off to someone else. Sunsetsky helped Firejaw through his grief, helped him raise Darkpaw.
Tragedy struck again as the raid occurred, so many cats injured and dead. Firejaw knew in his heart of hearts that it was bearjaw, it had to be. During the raid he lost track of Darkpaw and thought he had lost his son forever. Yet Darkpaw survived but was not the same. Now Firejaw must work to help his son through his trauma and continue to prove himself to be a loyal and good Echoclan warrior.
